Announcement and vertical scroll news plug-in will create a vertical news scroller into your wordpress website site, we can embed this in to site sidebar. The plug-in demo available on the sidebar. This plug-in uses JavaScript to do this scroll. In the admin we have option to add, update, delete the news. if you want to scroll continuously like reel, use my continuous scroll plug-in.

Drag and Drop the Widget : Go to widget page under Appearance tab, Drag and drop “Announcement” widget into your side bar. its very easy.

Add directly in the theme : Use this code, <?php if (function_exists (gAnnouncement)) gAnnouncement(); ?> to add the gallery to your Theme files.

Q1) Can I display more news at same time?
No, you can add n number of news, it will display one by one at front end (vertical scrolling).
Q2) Can I change the scroll manner from vertical to horizontal?
No, This option is not available.
Q3) Can I arrange the news scroll order?
Yes, you can set order, use display order field in the setting page to arrange the news scroll order.
Q4) Can I hide the any news temporary?
Yes, change the display order status to OFF in the setting page.
Q5) Can I change the Slide Direction?
Yes, 0=down-up and 1=up-down.
Q6) Can I display announcement in random order?
Yes, Option available in 6.0+ version.
Q7) Can I customize the all other appearance style?
Yes, Go to setting page there we have option to customize the plugin style.

Q8) Why my news content out of range?
In front end widget area, if you see any news content out of area or invisible, it because of height and width of the widget, so you should arrange width and height of the widget in widget configuration area to good look. In default I have fixed width: 180px and height: 100px.
Installation instruction
Method 1
- Download the plugin announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news.zip from download location.
- Unpack the announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news.zip file
- Extract the /announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news/ folder.
- Drop the plugin folder into your wp-content/plugins folder.
- In word press administration panels, click on plug-in from the menu.
- You should see your new announcement and vertical scroll news plug-in listed.
- To turn the word presses plug-in on, click activate.
Method 2
- Go to add new menu under plugins tab in your word-press admin.
- Search announcement and vertical scroll news plugin using search option.
- Find the plugin and click Install Now link.
- Finally click activate plug-in link to activate the plug-in.
Method 3
- Download the plugin announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news.zip from download location.
- Go to add new menu under plugins tab in your word-press admin.
- Select upload link (top link menu).
- Upload the available announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news.zip file and click install now.
- Finally click activate plug-in link to activate the plug-in.

New feature expiration date included. in front end the announcement will display based on expiration date, example if the expiration date is 25th Dec 2012 , then the announcement will display upto 24th dec 2012.

I got it working in sidebar widget so I know my content is set correct. But I don’t get anything to show in a page. I added code to page .
Shouldn’t there be a line to actually call it? No where mentioned in your docs.

It will add CSS depends on your theme, you can edit the CSS.
When the text wraps around, a small portion of the text keeps getting cut off. I am not sure what is causing this. Even when I adjust the width, the right edge of the text is getting cut off.

How do you center the text in the widget. Right now it’s too far left aligned. How do you center the whole thing?
it depends on your wordpress theme CSS, create separate theme for announcement widget in your theme css.
Love the plugin. But it doesn’t seem to stop consistently on mouseover . Sometimes it will stop and other times it will just keep on scrolling through two or three items before stopping.

Hi, if am right , “Global Translator” plug-in translate all the text with in the page, but our content are present with in java-script so its not translated.

But what I wanted to know is if there is a way to change “Announcement” to some other word or words? I tried to change it to “Scrolling Captchas” in the settings area, but it still says “Announcement”.

I’ve activated the plugin but when I enter news in the Manage Page I get the message “No Announcement Available in Database! Creat New.” The plugin appears on my sidebar but it says there are no announcements available.
In default there is no message available, so just create new message using below form.

What if I want the linked text in the announcement to open in another page?
Is there a way of setting the scroll speed? I installed it on a site and it scrolled really fast, which was quite nice. I recently played around with the ‘slide timemout’ thinking that would slow it down but it only affects the time the message stays static for.
Since playing with that, the scroll speed is now very slow and not quite what I’m after. Is there a way to fix this? Maybe it has been brought about by a browser/plugin update, I’m not sure.

So I put in all the info. and click “Insert Announcement” and it clears the page, but no sign of the announcment. It acts like it just reloads the page. Also doesn’t appear on my main page…using tags in the main template.

Hi Gopi, I do like this. Using it for my testimonials, which are lengthy. When I edit the length of the widget to accommodate, and change the text size down to 9px, none of these changes reflect after updating. Also would like to slow down the scroll. Hi Gopi, thanks for this amazing plugin. I’ve done some simple modifications to the plugin to add multilingual support, just added 3 languages for now (English, Spanish and Catalan), but you can add more languages easily.

I found the way to control the speed of the slide.
In the plugin folder, go into gAnnounce folder and edit gAnnounce.js file.
Search for “v_slideStep” and change the value to 7 for example.

I had an earlier version of wordPress running on theme Apahualpa. Announcement and vertical scroll functioned just perfect. Now I have upgrade to wordPress 3.2.1 and latest version of Apahualpa and the Annoucement and… doesn’t work any more. The problem is that no announcements shows in the wizard on the sidebar. I have deleted and reinstalled the plugin and also tried some of your other announcement plugins but with the same problem. Any ideas?
