Announcement and vertical scroll news plug-in will create a vertical news scroller into your wordpress website site, we can embed this in to site sidebar. The plug-in demo available on the sidebar. This plug-in uses JavaScript to do this scroll. In the admin we have option to add, update, delete the news. if you want to scroll continuously like reel, use my continuous scroll plug-in.
- Easy installation.
- Widgets, so you can add pretty much anything.
- Easy style-override system.
- Expiration date setup.(version 5.0)
- You can add N number of news; it will scroll one by one at front end (vertical scrolling).
- You can arrange the scrolling news order. Also you can customize the scroll direction.
- If you want, you can hide the news temporarily.
Plugin configuration
Method 1
Drag and Drop the Widget : Go to widget page under Appearance tab, Drag and drop “Announcement” widget into your side bar. its very easy.
Method 2
Add directly in the theme : Use this code, <?php if (function_exists (gAnnouncement)) gAnnouncement(); ?> to add the gallery to your Theme files.
Frequently asked questions
Q1) Can I display more news at same time?
No, you can add n number of news, it will display one by one at front end (vertical scrolling).
Q2) Can I change the scroll manner from vertical to horizontal?
No, This option is not available.
Q3) Can I arrange the news scroll order?
Yes, you can set order, use display order field in the setting page to arrange the news scroll order.
Q4) Can I hide the any news temporary?
Yes, change the display order status to OFF in the setting page.
Q5) Can I change the Slide Direction?
Yes, 0=down-up and 1=up-down.
Q6) Can I display announcement in random order?
Yes, Option available in 6.0+ version.
Q7) Can I customize the all other appearance style?
Yes, Go to setting page there we have option to customize the plugin style.
Dashboard → Settings → Announcement → Setting page
Q8) Why my news content out of range?
In front end widget area, if you see any news content out of area or invisible, it because of height and width of the widget, so you should arrange width and height of the widget in widget configuration area to good look. In default I have fixed width: 180px and height: 100px.
Installation instruction
Method 1
- Download the plugin announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news.zip from download location.
- Unpack the announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news.zip file
- Extract the /announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news/ folder.
- Drop the plugin folder into your wp-content/plugins folder.
- In word press administration panels, click on plug-in from the menu.
- You should see your new announcement and vertical scroll news plug-in listed.
- To turn the word presses plug-in on, click activate.
Method 2
- Go to add new menu under plugins tab in your word-press admin.
- Search announcement and vertical scroll news plugin using search option.
- Find the plugin and click Install Now link.
- Finally click activate plug-in link to activate the plug-in.
Method 3
- Download the plugin announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news.zip from download location.
- Go to add new menu under plugins tab in your word-press admin.
- Select upload link (top link menu).
- Upload the available announcement-and-vertical-scroll-news.zip file and click install now.
- Finally click activate plug-in link to activate the plug-in.
Version 5.0
New feature expiration date included. in front end the announcement will display based on expiration date, example if the expiration date is 25th Dec 2012 , then the announcement will display upto 24th dec 2012.
Version 6.0
Now display announcement in Random order, option available in setting page.
Version 8.0
Now Announcement menu available only to admin or user have admin permission (Other type user cant see this plug-in in admin).
Version 9.0

I got it working in sidebar widget so I know my content is set correct. But I don’t get anything to show in a page. I added code to page .
Shouldn’t there be a line to actually call it? No where mentioned in your docs.
I use super-slideshow and that works.

Can the announcements have links or be clickable?
yes you can add linkable text in this widget.
Can an image be included by using html, e.g.,
I couldn’t get it to work that way. Any other ideas, or something to consider for a future release, perhaps?
Hi, you can add the images in the text area, use usual html tags to add images.
I did have some problem in getting a picture in to the announcement widget but tried it out again and will start using this plugin for banners.

Can you edit additonal css? I need to add additional padding and margins to this section.
It will add CSS depends on your theme, you can edit the CSS.
When the text wraps around, a small portion of the text keeps getting cut off. I am not sure what is causing this. Even when I adjust the width, the right edge of the text is getting cut off.

How do you center the text in the widget. Right now it’s too far left aligned. How do you center the whole thing?
it depends on your wordpress theme CSS, create separate theme for announcement widget in your theme css.
Love the plugin. But it doesn’t seem to stop consistently on mouseover . Sometimes it will stop and other times it will just keep on scrolling through two or three items before stopping.

Hi, if am right , “Global Translator” plug-in translate all the text with in the page, but our content are present with in java-script so its not translated.

The whole page translates when I use the translator from the Google toolbar though.

Hi friends, i think the global translator translate the word from the page(ie it translate content from the page not from the java-script) so this scrolling is a pure java-script so it is not translating….
please give any idea so i ll try to modify the plugin.

Check whether java-script clash with any other plug-in.
Please help, I am using the plugin for a school website. The Settings are appearing in the Dashboard of Subscribers (who are elementary school students). They are able to mess with it! Is there away for the settings to only appear on the Admin Dashboard.

Thank you for the new plugin because I had to use it to make continually scrolling captchas for one of my visitors.
But what I wanted to know is if there is a way to change “Announcement” to some other word or words? I tried to change it to “Scrolling Captchas” in the settings area, but it still says “Announcement”.
OK. Wait. Sorry, but I’ll leave this for other people. I just found out that it didn’t change because i was still logged into my blog. Now it is changed!

I’ve activated the plugin but when I enter news in the Manage Page I get the message “No Announcement Available in Database! Creat New.” The plugin appears on my sidebar but it says there are no announcements available.
In default there is no message available, so just create new message using below form.

Why can’t you use the Enter key when creating announcements? Does it all have to be on one line? You should really make it possible to use multiple lines.

for some reason my widget is displaying my announcements in a white box with a black border … i’ve been looking through the plugin files , but haven’t yet found what/how it’s formatting the text.

I like people’s opinions as to when the dinar will revalue. However, it is apparent that some people who post saying they have a rate and date and then nothing every materializes is very annoying. They either have bad information or they are just trying to get people pumped. Those regular individuals who post with a date and/or rate, I usually have very little confidence in their postings.

What if I want the linked text in the announcement to open in another page?
Is there a way of setting the scroll speed? I installed it on a site and it scrolled really fast, which was quite nice. I recently played around with the ‘slide timemout’ thinking that would slow it down but it only affects the time the message stays static for.
Since playing with that, the scroll speed is now very slow and not quite what I’m after. Is there a way to fix this? Maybe it has been brought about by a browser/plugin update, I’m not sure.

Using the settings page, I changed the font size to 15px. However, the font size remains the same. It seems like stuck at 13px font size. How do I change the font?

“No Announcement Available in Database! Create New”
So I put in all the info. and click “Insert Announcement” and it clears the page, but no sign of the announcment. It acts like it just reloads the page. Also doesn’t appear on my main page…using tags in the main template.
I will try reinstalling the plugin, but would you have any ideas?

to have a multilanguage announcement I have to put something like:

but the announcement plugin strips the tags so I get both langs in the same announcement –
any advice where to change the code so it would not strip it?

I dont want the subscribers of my blog to have the authority to edit my announcements, is there a way i can hide the announcement editor from my subscribers dashboard? I want it to appear only in the admins dashboard, any way to accomplish that?

Hi Gopi, I do like this. Using it for my testimonials, which are lengthy. When I edit the length of the widget to accommodate, and change the text size down to 9px, none of these changes reflect after updating. Also would like to slow down the scroll. Hi Gopi, thanks for this amazing plugin. I’ve done some simple modifications to the plugin to add multilingual support, just added 3 languages for now (English, Spanish and Catalan), but you can add more languages easily.
Let me know if you want me to send you the source code so you can add this modifications to your next release.

This is a great plugin for WP, thank you very much. I have it running as a widget on my home page. However, once I used the widget it is no longer available to use on the sidebar of other pages.

Any chance that you might the availability of calling the output through a shortcode in a text widget?
Also, I use the plug-in “Display Widgets” to show/hide various widgets for each page, but yours is the only one that it doesn’t interface with… any clues on why that may be, or how I might fix that?

I am looking for a plug in that seems close to announcement and vertical scroll news plugin that you have. I couldn’t find the plugin within the wordpress plugins list so I can install it. I tried to download it from your site but it doesn’t work.
Is it a way to install it quick and simple?
I mention that I am not so close to technical issues so please make it as simple as possible for me. So far installing the plugins that are in the wordpress list in my dashboard worked fine for me.

Announcement and vertical scroll news & News announcement scroll both same plugin. the first plugin automatically gone from wordpress directory so create same plugin with different name.
Continuous announcement scroller : in this plugin we can show more then 1 record at a time. this is not possible in the other plugin.
I was looking for similar plugin and finally find it. Can I customize it? For example I would like to insert it on main page of my site , not as a common widget. Just to scroll new post titles on header section.

When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a comment is added I become four emails with the exact same comment. Can there be that is it is easy to remove me from that service? Thanks!

I found the way to control the speed of the slide.
In the plugin folder, go into gAnnounce folder and edit gAnnounce.js file.
Search for “v_slideStep” and change the value to 7 for example.

One thing I found is that everytime you deactivate the plugin and re activate it it looses the window size setting. Any one have any ideas?

I had an earlier version of wordPress running on theme Apahualpa. Announcement and vertical scroll functioned just perfect. Now I have upgrade to wordPress 3.2.1 and latest version of Apahualpa and the Annoucement and… doesn’t work any more. The problem is that no announcements shows in the wizard on the sidebar. I have deleted and reinstalled the plugin and also tried some of your other announcement plugins but with the same problem. Any ideas?

This is SO CLOSE to what we’ve been looking for. Is there a way to display the excerpt rather than the content? Speed controls would be nice too, but the excerpt is the big thing. Willing to compensate for your time if you are able to contact me.
